Cala Gonone
Dorgali rises to 456 m. above sea level, it has 8035 inhabitants who are divided between the town and its marine fraction Cala Gonone. With its 225 square kilometers of territory, it is among the largest cominias in Sardinia and among the luckiest thanks to the variety of the landscape. The town can be easily reached from the major Sardinian cities (Cagliari, Sassari, Oristano, Olbia) along the SS 131 - Abbasanta/Nuoro branch - Lula/Dorgali exit. It is connected to Cagliari and Olbia by the ss 125 (also called Eastern Sardinian because it joins all the towns along the eastern coast of Sardinia) longer and more tortuous but full of incredible panoramic views.
Crafts, agriculture, breeding and tourism are the strong points of the Dorgali economy which is characterized by the integration and close ties between the various economic sectors.
The cooperative cellar, the dairy, the oil mill, the bakeries of "pane carasau" (music paper) and the numerous pastry shops are the flagship of its agricultural economy which, while accepting technological innovations, does not renounce the knowledge of tradition.
